Dajing high school affiliated to Shanghai International Studies University is one of the first experimental model schools in Shanghai. Founded in 1962 near the ancient building “Dajing pavilion”, the school got its name “Dajing”. The site of the school used to be small and shabby but after challenging all kinds of difficulties, the school made a breakthrough in physical education, persistently adhering to the educational policy of the party bringing up all-round students. As a result, the school was honored a key school in Shanghai with prominent achievements.
The spirit of the school is “ to be patriotic, to add credit to school, to work hard, to challenge difficulties to try to be number one”, which is developed year after year. Since the opening reform, the school seized the opportunity to make greater achievements. In 1997, the school moved to a new site with a well-equipped 18-storeyed teaching building. With the concern from leaders, the school began to cooperate with Shanghai International studies University in 2000, gearing itself toward the objective of establishing a modernized elite high school with good quality feature. The school has been awarded the Shanghai model unit in a row for four times, the model school for middle school students’ daily discipline in Shanghai, the garden unit in Shanghai and so on. The school is also the base of National Foreign Language Educational Experiment, the base of Information Technology Experiment in China, the base of the Second Syllabus Reform in Shanghai and the base of Shanghai Innovation Education.
“To lead the students to better development” is the educational essence of the school. It sticks to educating students with good morality, promoting the curriculum reform, improving teaching quality and making greater progress. The school has made efforts at teaching students to be independent and responsible, developing courses open to all students allowing them to choose what they like. It is also further promoting the spirit of “independent learning exploration” in classroom, exploring the assessment system valuing the process different skills. The school is trying to foster well-balanced students with proficiency in English, who will not only be the future talents good at study, but make contributions to the country as well.
With the feature of shooting, plane model, trackfield, the school is awarded the model school of 2008 Beijing Olympic Education. The shooting team is awarded the high level sports team for shooting item in Shanghai. Besides, the school chorus has won the silver medal of the third the fourth world chorus competition in a row. To help each student develop actively and properly with sustained ability, the school spares no efforts to strengthen international cultural exchanget o create more opportunity for students to take part in the social practice.
